Birds of a Feather

31 March 2006

It's not an easy task to plan really, when it comes to seeing all of the animals at the Zoo. To fit all the feathered, furry and scaly creatures into your day is a mission taken on only by the most prepared! I am about to let you in on a secret to make it a bit easier for you. There is one place you need to be for one of the best shows...

Not yet 3:00pm and the crowd has already started to roll in; they have made a the perfect choice for the day. Its three o'clock now and the Birds of Prey demonstration promises to amaze even the most tired parent in the crowd. Thrilling dives, displays of brute strength and graceful silent flying... "But wait, theres more!"

These birds have not even started to impress; take the humble Spike and Matilda, the Blue-winged Kookaburras, for example. Even though you will not hear this little couple laugh as their cousins do, you may be fortunate enough to hear the unique coughing cackle that only they can make. With sky-blue colours and their own special way of preparing a mouse for a tender meal, this is a show not to be missed. Along with the other birds they share their home with, there is a lot that we can learn about them.

So whether you plan your day at the Zoo carefully or you're just strolling through the Zoo, be sure to remember that at 3:00pm, outside the Birds of Prey Aviary is where you need to be. Oh, and don't forget to tell Spike and Matilda who sent you...
