Leah of All Trades!
27 January 2006
Here at the Zoo, some of our keepers are lucky enough to be able to work within several different departments to gain a vast range of skills and knowledge, which is what I am currently doing! For the past year I have been a member of the Exotics Department caring for the camels, foxes and the dingoes and although I loved my time with them, it was time for a change. I have been giving our Wandering Wildlife team a helping hand over the busy holiday period! So far I have had training with Blue-tongue and Shingleback Lizards, American Corn Snakes, some koala handling and I still get to work with the beautiful dingoes. Working with this team has been great fun and a fantastic learning experience, and I am happy to help out whenever they need a hand.
Next month as it quiets down here at the zoo, I am off to learn all about our native mammals and the Asian Small-clawed Otters; I am looking forward to the new challenges and working with the Mammals Department.
Roving Leah
