Expensive Dining

7 October 2005

Carpet Pythons are the most common snake that we are called out to remove, and they are also very handy to have around because they keep the rat population down. They are non-venomous, and because they feed on rats they are often found in people's houses, sheds and barns. The problem here is that they sometimes follow the scent of rats and end up in chook pens or aviaries, and instead of eating the rats, they will eat the birds. This Carpet Python was found in the aviary of a very upset lady, and had eaten $1000 worth of her much loved parrots.
