Koalas in a Flash!

Animal Diaries are very important particularly for international fans of the Zoo that aren’t able to actually visit us in person. Our column also plays a vital role in introducing and educating the public on some of the amazing animals that we display at the Zoo. This has prompted me to pay credit to those folks behind the cameras; the photography crew, who help us to bring the animals ‘to life’ for our readers.
I recently caught up with the photography crew and asked them to share a few tips on how to take the perfect koala photo.
Step 1: Choose a suitable subject. Well that’s easy, they’re all so cute!
Step 2: Get as close as possible to your subject. Ok, now that’s a little harder;humans aren’t exactly built for balancing in tree forks!
Step 3: Wait for the subject to wake up. Ok, so now we’re talking about balancing in a tree fork for about 10 hrs straight – this is getting a little tougher!
Step 4: Finally, yell out CRIKEY and snap your photo!
Check out the results of our hard work. Apparently some of our koalas are better at posing for the camera than others!
