The Australia Zoo Rescue Unit were recently called out to a particularly challenging rescue, where a young male kangaroo had fallen into a canal with no escape in sight. The Rescue Unit knew that they had to work quickly, the water levels were rising as the tide came in and it was only a matter of time before the barnacles on the rocks would cause serious injury to the kangaroo's feet. The team followed the kangaroo down the canal until the exhausted animal couldn't go any further and decided to rest his weary paws on the kayak. The team gently sedated the kangaroo and lifted him up out on dry land, where they washed his feet with disinfectant and waited for him to wake. It wasn't long before he found his feet and bounded into the nearby trees! Watch the video to see our specially trained Rescue Unit in action!
