Who We Are

We are... animal handlers, construction workers, receptionists, sales assistants, marketing consultants, human resources officers, teachers, drivers, writers, designers, artists, gardeners, entertainers, editors, cleaners, sculptors, photographers, website developers, tour guides, accountants, volunteers and veterinarians. We are a community unto ourselves – a team of over 500 who work together to create the wildest show on earth for our guests each and every day of the year, and to further live out our philosophy of Conservation through Exciting Education!

Good Old Days
The story behind Australia Zoo and the Crocodile Hunter dates all the way back to the 1970s, when one enthusiastic herpetologist, Bob Irwin, and his Wildlife Warrior wife, Lyn, opened the Beerwah Reptile Park on four acres in a tiny town in Queensland. The rest is history!
